Those who know me know that I am a displaced Texan, living a meager existence in Louisville, Kentucky, so it is very distressing for me to see the torrential rains destroying so many parts of Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Friends from Dallas to Houston have been struggling to stay dry and not get washed away in the infamous "flash floods" that crop up with so little warning and sweep away cars, people, houses and bridges. Wanting to travel down to visit everyone down in Houston, it has become necessary to call ahead to the next stopover just to find out if it has passable roads and dry hotel rooms. Friends here in Louisville have gently suggested that I not go there during this weather crisis, but home calls to me and there is already far too little time to visit with son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and father. There is also the friend whose health seems just a little bit worse each time I get to see him.
Texas has gone from drought to severe flooding in such a short period of time; yet another reminder that we need to treasure every moment we have because without warning, our time could be over.
These are poems, stories, and personal commentaries about whatever I am going through in my life at the time. Please feel free to comment on anything that you read, as I love to hear from my readers. All written by Writer M Ray Holloway Jr.
